Bergkirchli-Konzert mit Elena Bürkli
"The music in Italy between 1500 and 1700." This marks the beginning of instrumental music, the birth of opera, and the arias and songs that arose from it. Elena Bürkli plays the historical organ and sings hymns, toccatas, and intonations by Girolamo Cavazzoni (1525-1577), Antonio Valente (1565-1577), and Andrea Gabrieli (1510-1586). Their music is polyphonic, featuring many embellishments and runs. Elements of vocal music can be found, emerging from the works of Giacomo Carissimi (1605-1674), Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725), and Giovanni Bononcini (1670-1747). Solemn melodies alternate with swift coloratura, contributing to an emotional, contrasting performance.
