Klassik Festival Arosa - Galgenlieder
Morgenstern's famous texts ("Once upon a time there was a picket fence"), cleverly and wittily presented by the leader of the Sam Singers, Samuel Zünd (baritone), Nilgün Keles (piano/accordion), and Emil Scheibenreich (clarinet/saxophone/violin).
Who doesn't know the picket fence "to look through" or the knee that wanders lonely through the world. The "Gallows Songs" by Christian Morgenstern, these cunning verses - world-renowned and widely quoted, recited, illustrated, and also often set to music. The Swiss conductor and composer Enrico Lavarini has also taken on the cheerful-morbid texts. In 2006, he received the grand prize from the St. Gallen Cultural Foundation.
Lavarini lives and works in Walenstadt. The singer Samuel Zünd is a lecturer at ZHdK and is both a sought-after concert soloist and a successful entertainer with his various formations, such as the Sam Singers, the Ensemble Zürilieder, the Musenkuss-Kabinett, among others.
